Established as an alliance of public and private partnerships to Advocate, Educate, and Empower Society and the Transgender Community regarding physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
Established in 2014, the Indiana Transgender Wellness Alliance (referred to as I.T.W.A.), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Indianapolis, Indiana.
ITWA’s vision is includes three components:
- To ensure that all members of the transgender community have access to culturally competent services
- To eliminate societal stigma associated with gender variance
- To further the understanding of gender diversity
Aligned with its vision, ITWA’s mission is: “To educate, train, & assist community service providers, employer groups, and educational institutions to promote the health & wellbeing of – and to advocate for – transgender and gender variant adults and youth.”
Workplace Inclusion Training
ITWA works with Indiana businesses to train Human Resources departments on facilitating gender transition in the workplace.
ITWA works with medical professionals, mental health providers and spiritual counselors to teach cultural competency in understanding and working with the transgender community.
ITWA connects with organizations and individuals within the transgender community and reaches out to the larger community to educate.
